As we had mentioned earlier, Samsung will rollout Android Nougat firmware update for Samsung Galaxy S7 / Edge smartphones in January. Samsung seems to be fulfilling the promise at the right time. It’s January and Official Android Nougat 7.0 has been started to roll out on Galaxy S7 / Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones. First those users are receiving the software update which previously had the Beta Nougat installed on their smartphones.
Official Android Nougat 7.0 Update Released for Samsung Galaxy S7 / Edge
The firmware update includes January Security Patch updates as well. It will be around 215 MB in size for those who are already using Android Nougat Beta, and for those who are still using Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 (which is vast majority) will receive the huge firmware update with security patches and it will be around 1.0 GB in size approximately. You can expect Android Nougat 7.0 software update to reach you within next week. 🙂

According to the official changelog, version number NDRD90M.G935FXXU1DPLT brings Android 7.0 Nougat (not 7.1.1, the latest available version from Google), as well as changes to Samsung’s proprietary features, including:
- new UX and various performance modes
- improved usability of the Notification feature and Quick Settings button
- improved usability of the Multi window feature
- improved settings and features for Always-on Display
- improvements in storage usage, app installation speed, and system update speeds.
